Thursday evening meets

Tonight was a nice change of pace. Matt ended up hosting a pizza party at his place, while Scott did most of the cooking. The majorty of the group ate and conversed out on the patio, enjoying the weather.

Our weekly Meets

Summer has finally settled in, and was appreciated by all.  Quite a turnout, attendance wise.  A member who was pretty much there since the beginning, showed up because he started missing the group.  He had been preoccupied with work and had accomplished much in his absence, which was why it was the first time meeting him for a few.  Networks were created and personal information was exchanged to help each other grow and work hand-in-hand. Bonds were strengthened and laughs were had.  Overall a pleasant meet with TBI-brethren, you know business as usual.

Our weekly meets at Starbucks

It was a fairly small gathering tonight, but things come up and those who RSVP'd and didn't show up were missed. Since there were only a few of us there was no main topic, just talked about sports and whatnot. Nothing serious. It was still nice to see familiar faces and touch base. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, for whatever reason (weather/ nothing really worth complaining about).

Thursday eveing meets

Tonight's gathering was fairly blissful. The warmth of the sun accompanied by the fresh spring air was pleasant, winter has completely passed. People riding their bikes, walking their dogs, and the sun has yet to set over the mountains. It's a nice change of pace, compared to having street lamps turn on but a few hours after noon. Instead of getting dark at five o'clock, night falls closer to 8:00 PM. We talked about keeping busy and preoccupying ourselves as a coping strategy. Once that was discussed, along with other topics, we changed gears and made future plans.

Hope and Relief

There are quite a few modalities that are offered today, in the world of TBI. Many means and measures are now available to the masses that were not around ten years go. Ranging from online support groups to physical manipulation of the body, such as massage and chiropractic care. Spreading awareness and reaching out a sympathetic hand from diverse forms of social mediums to let you know, you are not alone. As well as being resourceful and well informed, there is comfort to be found in the online community. Kindness and strength is offered along with information many seek.Food for thought.

Thursday Evening Meets

TBIAlive! meets every Thursday evening at a Starbucks located in Denver, Colorado. These weekly meets gives anyone within the group a chance to ask questions or concerns that they have and are looking for help or an input from another perspective.

At tonight's meet we welcomed a new member to the group. As unfortunate as he was to have experienced TBI like so many of us, he is not alone. We conversed over beverages inside the Starbucks, as became the custom. The subject of letting the past be the past and to keep moving forward was pretty much the topic of tonight. The whole night however wasn't completely serious and heavy. There were talks of sports and lighthearted themes.

A couple of the members were praising one member for the success he has made with his new life, in meeting new people. One member talked about how his family no longer resides in Denver but they still keep in touch. Multiple conversation tend to meld into one, once a subject comes up where everyone interjects, because they have an insightful piece of information to add.

There is always something to talk about at our Thursday evening meets and a sympathetic ear if one is needed. It is not our place to judge but share compassion. Whether it's sharing resources or just having someone to talk to, we are here for one another.
